Background
On September 7th, 2022, monkeydunk3812 (NA East) and krypticOX (NA West) competed in the Fall 2022 – Fortnite Collegiate Cup Zero Build Trios Round 1 events.
The CCA admin team was made aware that monkeydunk3812 and krypticOX did not meet the age requirement in order to participate in this tournament.
Investigation
The CCA Admin team reviewed the players’ submitted registration information and confirmed that both players did not meet the age requirement at the time of the competition per Section 3.1.1 of the official rulebook.
Ruling
These two players have been found to be in violation of the age requirement for the Fall 2022 – Fortnite Collegiate Cup.
In order to comply with the rulebook, monkeydunk3812 and krypticOX have been deemed ineligible to compete.
As a result of their placement in Round 1, both their teams qualified for the Round 2 events scheduled for September 10th, 2022.
Due to the newfound ineligibility of monkeydunk3812 and krypticOX, both of their trios will not be allowed to participate in Round 2 and have been removed from this event.
The four players that competed alongside monkeydunk3812 and krypticOX during Round 1 are still eligible to compete in the September Solos event and all other Fall 2022 – Fortnite Collegiate Cup events, but have been disqualified from this Trios event. monkeydunk3812 and krypticOX have been verified as full-time college students and will also be eligible to participate in these events once they meet the age requirement for the Fall 2022 – Fortnite Collegiate Cup.
Relevant Rule
3.1.1 – To be eligible to participate in any Event match, a player must be at least 18 years old (or such other age, if greater, as may be required in such player’s country of residence).
Action Taken
The trios that placed 34th during Round 1 in East and West will be moved up to compete in the Finals to maintain a total of 33 teams in both Round 2 events.
Closing
CCA administration would like to apologize for incorrectly approving these students to compete. All Fall 2022 – Fortnite Collegiate Cup participants underwent an identity and enrollment verification process in order to be eligible to play. Despite these measures, we mistakenly approved monkeydunk3812 and krypticOX. We take full responsibility for this error and have implemented operational changes to prevent this from happening again in the future.
